The President of the Presidency Human Resources Office Assoc. Prof. Salim Atay stated that they want to introduce real sectors to the young before they graduate from university.
The Aegean Region Career Fair, under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Turkey Dokuz Eylul University (DEU), was held in the Tepekule Convention and Exhibition Center with the support of 17 universities.
President of the Presidency Human Resources Office Assoc. Prof. Salim Atay, in the opening speech of the meeting, said that the main purpose of the fair, which includes 16 ministries, is equality of opportunity and transparency.
Atay stated that they are proud to realize the fourth of the career fairs in Izmir and said, “The number of universities in our country is now 206. It is very important to open universities, to make qualified campuses, to provide technological infrastructure. We have done these. It is necessary to introduce the real sector to young people before graduation. With these meetings, we facilitate the work of companies."
Atay reminded that representatives of the ministry were among the participants in the fair as representatives of the private sector and, "Ministries and dozens of businesses are here and they will tell our young people 'work with us'. This is the indicator of transparency and merit." he said.
Rector of DEU Prof. Nükhet Hotar, on the other hand, said that the universities have a big responsibility for production to be supported by the scientific world, for career-oriented planning, and for the qualified workforce to be brought to the economy of the region and the country.
Noting that the career fair is not only for young people but also the first point of contact for shaping future projections of the enterprises, Hotar said, “A process in which the right communication conditions are established and won by both sides will start. We offer many services to our students both before and after graduation in their career plans.”
Hotar reported that 189 institutions and 11 thousand students from different universities attended the Aegean Region Career Fair.
After the speeches, a panel entitled "Career and Universities" was held with the participation of university rectors in the Aegean Region.
After the panel, the participants visited the stands, got information about the institutions and had internship interviews.
